What this involves
Once construction starts, lenders and owners need independent confirmation that the project is being built to the approved design and on programme. NEWATT provides that assurance through regular, structured construction monitoring on their behalf.
Our engineers visit site at agreed intervals to check progress against the programme, verify that workmanship and installation follow the design and standards, review quality and test records, and confirm that any changes have been properly controlled. We report what we see plainly, including the issues as well as the progress.
Each visit produces a concise monitoring report — progress against plan, quality observations, open issues and their status, and a clear view of whether the project remains on track. Over the life of the build these reports give the financing parties continuous visibility and an auditable record, without them needing to be on site themselves.
Scope in detail
Site visits
We conduct scheduled site visits through construction to observe progress and quality directly, rather than relying solely on contractor-reported status, checking work against the approved design and identifying issues while they're still straightforward to correct. Visit frequency is set around key construction milestones — foundation pours, equipment installation, cable pulling — where problems are both more likely and more costly to fix once covered up or completed.
Compliance
Installed work is checked against the approved design and specifications during each site visit, flagging any deviation whether it's a genuine non-conformance or an unrecorded field change that needs to be reflected back into the as-built documentation. We track compliance issues to closure rather than simply noting them in a single report, following up on prior findings at each subsequent visit.
Progress tracking
We track physical progress against the baseline programme at each site visit, giving the client an independent view of schedule status rather than relying solely on the contractor's self-reported percentage complete. Where physical progress and reported progress diverge, we flag it early, since that gap is often the first visible sign of a schedule problem the contractor hasn't yet acknowledged.
Monitoring reports
Each site visit is documented in a structured monitoring report covering progress, quality observations, safety, and open items from previous visits, giving the client and any lender a consistent, auditable record through the construction period. Reports are written for a lender's drawdown process as much as for the client's own project management, so they stand alone as evidence without needing additional explanation.
